Popularization of Science

Science has different goals. Science is used for political means. In this blog you will find an example of that. I will analyze how the ideas of French science followers shaped an idea of French nationhood at the end of the XIXth century. During that period there were competing ideas of nationhood and there was one which highlighted the importance of science for the building of Frenchness. This work adds the bibliography.

But the end of that work started with the analyses of many books. It was an amazing path that shows the increasing importance of science in the XIXth and XXth centuries.

You will find ten articles that lead you to the article. I wrote the following writings: Definition of Popular Culture, Popularization of science. Categories to analyze popularization of science, The role of Science in Popular Culture, How does popular science play a role in gender construction?, Problems in the definition of public sphere: Jürgen Habermas, An Example of the Chemistry Community and the Construction of Public Sphere, What are the salient features of the popularization of science in Great Britain? and The Popularization of Science in France: Science and the Arts. .

Enjoy your reading.

I wrote these papers and the article while taking one of my courses during my History Ph. D program at Georgetown University.
